Network Rail is inviting people to attend three community drop-in events ahead of the opening of the Levenmouth rail link.
Held jointly with ScotRail, the events will be a chance to find out more about using the new Cameron Bridge and Leven stations, buying tickets and accessibility arrangements.
Representatives from the railway team will also discuss things like travelling with your bike and what happens during any disruption to services, as well as sharing simple steps to keep safe while travelling through the stations and on the train.
Community Drop-in Events:
Throughout the delivery of the project, there has been extensive engagement in the community to share rail safety knowledge in preparation of the project’s completion.
The drop in events are part of the final preparations being made before the link opens in June.
Joe Mulvenna, Network Rail’s project manager for the Levenmouth rail link, said: “We’re looking forward to welcoming members of the community to our drop-in events to discuss the new railway.
“It’s an exciting time and when the line opens to passengers in June, people will be able to travel by train for work, education and social activities. Local businesses will be able take advantage of expanded tourism prospects.
“Our team will be on hand to speak about the new stations, buying tickets, travel safety, accessibility arrangements for those with additional needs, and much more. I’d encourage everyone to come down and speak to the team.”
Tracy Stevenson, ScotRail Community Rail Executive, said: “While some people may recall trains running to Leven back in the 1960’s, for the majority of people in the community this will be new and exciting. So, it is natural that there will be some questions and uncertainty about how it works – which is why we will make ourselves available in the community to answer any questions and hopefully eliminate any concerns.
“Enhancing confidence to travel independently and confidently on the trains is important. After a gap of more than five decades, this information is crucial to communities across Levenmouth to ensure the reintroduction of the railway is a positive and safe experience.”
Levenmouth Rail Link is a Scottish Government-funded project that will reconnect local communities to the rail network. Two new stations have been built at Cameron Bridge and Leven and services will return to the area for the first time in five decades from June 2.
